Occupational Therapy Practitioner
We are seeking a neurodiversity-affirming, child-led occupational therapist or certified occupational therapy assistant with competencies in working with children and families to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in pediatric occupational therapy practice and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of neurodivergent children, children who have experienced trauma, LGBTQ+ children and their families.
At Dandelion Spirit, occupational therapy is not a separate service that happens down the hall - it is an integrated part of how we understand and support the whole child. You will work alongside mental health clinicians and speech-language pathologists to ensure that sensory, motor, and adaptive functioning needs are understood in the context of the full clinical picture, and that the support we offer families is coherent rather than fragmented.
As an OT or COTA at Dandelion Spirit, you will work with children and families to identify functional support needs, design and implement intervention plans that address those needs across home, school, and community settings, and collaborate closely with the broader clinical team to ensure that your work and theirs are building toward the same goals.
Duties
If OTR/L, conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to assess sensory processing, motor development, adaptive functioning, and related areas
If OTR/L, develop individualized treatment plans grounded in client strengths and family priorities
If COTA, follow individualized treatment plans developed by OTR/L.
Provide direct occupational therapy services to children using evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming approaches
Collaborate with mental health clinicians and SLP on co-treatment and coordinated care planning
Partner with families to support carryover of strategies across home and school environments
Consult with schools and other providers to support environmental modifications and appropriate accommodations
Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with legal, ethical, and billing standards
Engage in regular interdisciplinary team consultation and contribute to a shared clinical culture
Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy AND current licensure as an OT in the state of Minnesota (OTR/L) OR Associate's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy Assistant AND current licensure as a COTA/L in the state of Minnesota.
Experience working with pediatric populations, particularly children ages 2–12
Strong background in sensory processing and sensory integration approaches
Experience with or genuine commitment to learning neurodiversity-affirming practice
Familiarity with trauma-informed care and its application to occupational therapy practice
Experience working with or willingness to learn about neurodivergent children, including autistic children, children with ADHD, and children with PDA profiles
Comfort working within a multidisciplinary team and contributing to coordinated, relationship-based care
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with children and families from diverse backgrounds
Strong documentation skills with attention to detail
